Many clients present to evaluators, psychiatrists, and primary care physicians with symptoms of distractibility, inattention, and hyperactivity.  While this symptomology can be indicative of several DSM disorders, many clinicians default to a diagnosis of ADHD when ethically they are mandated to rule out alternative diagnoses first.  A misdiagnosis of ADHD can be actively harmful to our clientele, especially if ADHD treatment is ineffective.  Mitigation in exploring more applicable explanations and diagnoses can have profound implications for the client.
