This session will focus on how defenders and defense leaders can do more for clients: expanding services and practicing more holistically through the collaborative defense method. Focusing on the tactics and strategies in each CDM area (defender vision, drawing information out of clients at intake, stepping up client service, building connections with social and legal outside partners, and strengthening mitigation practices), this presentation will offer any defender the tools they need to begin broadening what clients can get from their counsel---not years from now, but right away. Crucially, we'll also include insights on what has worked for us at Partners for Justice as we developed CDM, particularly what helped us convince local governments and funders to buy in and resource this work for defenders around the country.
