How can public defenders leverage our perspective and expertise inside of court to build multidimensional, story-driven advocacy campaigns and contribute to movements outside of court to change the law, policies, and practices that devastate the people and communities we serve?

Zealous leaders will kick off the seven-session Zealous training and education track at NAPD 2023 with an overview of what systemic defender advocacy and communications looks like, why it’s important, and specific case studies of the most effective and ethical uses of defender advocacy over the last several years.
