The past year has presented especially challenging situations for criminal defense attorneys. The political environment and increased emphasis on criminal justice problems has made our work more difficult and made the conversation with jurors about these issues more important. This presentation will address how to improve conditions for jury selection, including improved questioning techniques in order to receive better information from jurors, information on the issues surrounding race and law enforcement credibility, as well as other sensitive topics. We will discuss some law and some strategy -- both selection and de-selection methods -- and propose effective questioning techniques to help your client's case.
